Advance Directive for Healthcare
Controlling all aspects of personal care and medical treatment
An Advance Directive for Health Care, also known as a “living will” or “health care power of attorney,” is a legal document exercising the right of individuals to (1) control all aspects of his or her personal care and medical treatment, (2) insist upon medical treatment, (3) decline medical treatment, or (4) direct that medical treatment be withdrawn.
The clear expression of individual decisions regarding health care, whether made by the individual or an agent appointed by the individual, is of critical importance not only to our clients, but also to their health care providers, the legal system, and, most importantly, their families.
Alford & Burkhart prepares the Advance Directive for Health Care as part of comprehensive estate planning.
